Silence Is No Longer an Option

A nation that arrests journalists and demonises activists is not a nation at peace. It is a nation at war with its own people. Zimbabwe, our beloved home, is once again at a crossroads, a critical moment where every citizen must choose: speak or be silenced.

The arrest of Blessed Mhlanga and the targeting of Blessed Geza are not isolated events. They are part of a larger, brutal campaign to kill dissent before it grows into a movement. They are part of a desperate attempt to cling to power, even as the country collapses under the weight of corruption, incompetence, and neglect.

But what the regime doesn’t realise is that fear has an expiry date. People can only be beaten down for so long before they stop fearing and start fighting back. Every unjust arrest, every stolen election, and every lie told on state TV pushes us closer to that breaking point.

We are tired of leaders who remember the people only when they need votes. We are tired of hospitals without medicine, schools without teachers, and dreams without hope. We are tired of being told to “wait” while the looters grow fat and the poor grow desperate.

Blessed Mhlanga’s story is our story. Blessed Geza’s call for change is our call. The crackdown on journalists and activists is a crackdown on every young person searching for a future, every parent struggling to feed their children, and every dreamer who still believes Zimbabwe can be better.

We are the generation that must refuse to be silent. The world is watching, but more importantly, our children are watching. They will ask us what we did when Zimbabwe bled. What will your answer be?

It’s time to choose. It’s time to stand. It’s time to be counted.
